Social & Informal Learning - Strange Unexplained Events Occur
Whenever I strike up conversations about social or informal learning strange unexplained events occur such as:
-
Dark clouds appear, followed by lightening, thunder and heavy downpours of rain
-
Icy cold winds begin to blow, freezing me to the spot
-
Self induced hypnotic states of sleep begin to happen
-
And strangest of all certain people start to bury their heads in sand
What on earth is going on after all I am only talking about Social & Informal Learning, where's the harm.
So my question on this my inaugrial post is..."have you experienced these phenomena or do you have your own unique set of phenomena you'd like to share with me?
The reason I post this simple question is to start building up a picture as to who the main culprits are behind this and why do you think they are so against Social & Informal Learning.
I am both a fan and advocate of the InternetTimeAlliance working group and especially Charles Jennings and Jane Hart. The clients I work with are hugely resistent to change, have monumental barriers in place to prevent any form of social or informal learning taking place unless it's structured (a contradiction in terms) and whilst they advocate innovation, will do everything in their poswer to prevent it taking place. And yes I am talking of UK based clients.
I'm not asking for help, I just want to know the scale and reasons you may have drawn for your experiences.
